PRESS INFORMATION NOTE:
The Minister of Labour and Social Security, Mr. Grégoire OWONA, will be receiving in audience this Monday, 03rd December 2018 at 9:00 a.m. in his Cabinet, Mr Becale Obiang Celestino Bonnifacio, Minister of Labour, Employment Promotion and Social Security of Equatorial Guinea.
This audience is the beginning of a five-day working visit to Cameroon by the Equatorial-Guineea Minister, who is accompanied by a four high-rank collaborator delegation. This visit falls within the scope of the international cooperation with the ILO and reflects the willingness of our brother countrythe Republic of Equatorial Guinea to draw on from Cameroon’s experience in public policy development particularly in relation to Social dialogue, social security and more importantly the implementation of the Decent Work Country Programme (DWCPS).
Indeed, the DWCP implemented in Cameroon since 2014, is a programme that aims to achieve the realisation of 4 pillars namely:
-Productive and sustainable employment;
Initially, Cameroon signed on 22 October 2014, a DWCP with ILO for a three-year period. Upon joint evaluation of the implementation of these four pillars by the Government and ILO in March 2017, which revealed an achievement rate of 65%, the Government agreed with ILO to extend the programme for a two-year period (2018-2019). It should also be noted that the Cameroonian DWCP relies on three priorities, namely:
-Increased opportunities for decent employment and Income-Generating Activities;
-Improved legal framework and pleasant and decent working conditions for all;
-Capacities Building of tripartite constituents of Social Dialogue.
It is for greater coherence of labour protection and improved legal framework goals in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea that the delegation led by the Ministry of Labour, Employment Promotion and Social Security, will be visiting Cameroon from the 3rd to 7th December 2018.
This Monday’s 3rd December audience between Minster Grégoire OWONA and his Equatorial-Guinea counterpart, Minister Becale Obiang Celestino Bonnifacio is one of the milestones in the visit of this important delegation that will also be received in other Departments involved in the implementation of the DWCP in our country.
The Equatorial-Guinea delegation will also visit certain institutions and enterprises, including ILO Headquarters, CRADAT, NSIF and the National Employment Fund, where working sessions are planned to go deeper into the sharing of experience.
